About
Wollaston Osteopathic Clinic is in the centre of Wollaston village, near Stourbridge. It is the practice of osteopath Nigel Parker, who has been registered since 2007 and worked in hands-on therapy before that.
Nigel’s route into osteopathy began with his own injury. In 1991, aged 21, a serious road traffic accident left him needing to learn to walk again. After specialist hospital care he found that, once home, he had to manage his own recovery, and his interest in that process became a career. He trained first in remedial and sports massage, then in manipulative therapy, and finally completed a five-year BSc (Hons) degree in osteopathy at Oxford Brookes University.
That history shapes his treatment directly. Nigel says he has integrated aspects of the bodywork therapies he received during his own rehabilitation, including an emphasis on breathing, and he uses a gentle technique he developed as his final-year specialisation. Having been a patient through a long recovery may also explain the clinic’s approach to treatment plans.
Wollaston Osteopathic Clinic does not sign people up for blocks of visits. Treatment is agreed one session at a time, in discussion with you, and the clinic says its aim is to get people better in as few visits as possible. It treats younger and older patients, and both sudden and long-standing conditions.
At a first visit Nigel takes a case history and asks about your health and daily life, then discusses what he has found, the likely underlying factors and how long treatment may take. The problems listed include back pain, neck pain, joint problems, headaches, sports injuries and general aches and stiffness.
The first visit costs £60, takes up to 45 minutes and includes a full treatment. Follow-ups are £45 and last 20 to 30 minutes.
The clinic is opposite the Aldi supermarket, with parking nearby. It is open Monday 8.30am to 5.30pm, Tuesday and Thursday 8.30am to 11am, Wednesday 8.30am to 1pm and Friday 8.30am to 5pm, and you can book through the website or by phone. Nigel is registered with the General Osteopathic Council.
