About
The Wetmore Clinic in Shropshire is located near Onibury between Ludlow and Craven Arms. It was founded in 2015 by osteopath Tilly Calvert, who restored an 18th-century stone barn on her family’s farm to create it.
Tilly graduated from the European School of Osteopathy in 1989, after a degree in physiology at the University of Bristol, and has over 35 years of experience. She began her career working alongside Nicholas Handoll in Herefordshire, where she developed her cranial osteopathy, and has since trained further through the Sutherland Cranial College and other postgraduate bodies. She says that even after 30 years she is still learning.
That long experience shows in who she treats. Tilly sees patients from newborn babies to the elderly, often looking after three or four generations of the same family, using a blend of classical, cranial and myofascial osteopathy. She has a particular interest in children in early development, and also uses the Niel-Asher Technique for frozen shoulder and kinesiology taping.
She works alongside osteopath Louise Reynolds, who also uses myofascial release, lymphatic drainage and kinesiology taping, and physiotherapist Ellie Evans. Ellie, who qualified from King’s College London in 2012, teaches Pilates and reformer Pilates and is a trained Mummy MOT practitioner, offering postnatal checks for pelvic health, tummy gap and returning to exercise from six weeks after birth. The team also includes sports massage therapist Tony Hession, who teaches stretching and Tai Chi, Carol Smith, who has trained in oncology massage and lymphatic drainage before and after surgery, and counsellor Fran Mayer.
At a first visit to The Wetmore Clinic you are encouraged to stop and ask questions at any point while your history is taken. Where further tests are needed, the clinic will ask your permission to contact your GP.
An initial osteopathy assessment lasts an hour and costs £85 with Tilly or £60 with Louise, and follow-ups are £60 or £45. The clinic is open five days a week from 9am to 5pm, has ample parking, and is listed as having disabled access. Tilly is registered with the General Osteopathic Council.
