Telford Osteopaths is a practice in Madeley, Telford, established in 2020. Its osteopath, Stephen Richardson, graduated from the British School of Osteopathy in London in 2004 and has over 20 years of experience.
Much of that experience has been in sport. Stephen spent ten years working in Dubai, where he supported teams at the Dubai Sevens and worked with Dubai Exiles rugby club in both playing and medical roles, and he has treated endurance athletes and Ironman competitors. In 2017 he completed FIFA’s Diploma in Football Medicine, and he is currently the osteopath for the Telford Tigers ice hockey team. That background shapes a practical, movement-focused approach, with rehabilitation advice built into treatment.
Alongside osteopathy, Stephen uses dry needling where it is appropriate, having trained in it early in his career, and completed further training in auricular acupuncture in 2023. He also uses Kinesio and dynamic taping to support rehabilitation.
Telford Osteopaths treats adults and children aged five and over. The people Stephen commonly sees include active adults and recreational athletes, manual workers and tradespeople, office workers with postural strain, and people with recurring musculoskeletal pain. The problems listed include back pain, neck pain, joint pain, sports injuries, muscle tension and work-related pain.
An initial consultation lasts up to an hour. Stephen takes a full case history covering your work, hobbies and general wellbeing, examines you, and explains his working diagnosis before any treatment, with time to ask questions throughout. Where a problem is outside what osteopathy can help with, he will refer you on.
An initial consultation costs £70 and a follow-up session of up to 30 minutes costs £55. The practice is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12pm to 6pm, and appointments can be booked online or by phone. Stephen is registered with the General Osteopathic Council.
