About
OsteoFirst is an osteopathy clinic in Bicton Heath, on the western edge of Shrewsbury, where osteopath Amy Mead treats patients. Amy completed her master’s degree in osteopathy at Swansea University in 2017 and has over 8 years of experience in practice.
Amy is also trained in medical acupuncture, which she can use within an osteopathy session, with your consent and where it is suitable, or offer as a treatment on its own. OsteoFirst treats a wide range of problems, including sports injuries, work-related injuries, age-related pain, nerve pain and pain during pregnancy, as well as back, neck, joint and jaw pain and headaches. If you are not sure whether treatment would help, the clinic is happy to talk it through first.
A first appointment at OsteoFirst starts with a detailed case history covering your symptoms, how they have developed and your medical background, followed by a thorough examination and a diagnosis. Amy works with you on a treatment plan built around your needs and goals, and treatment goes ahead only if appropriate. Techniques are tailored to you and may include soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation, muscle energy techniques and manipulation.
A first osteopathy appointment costs £50, and acupuncture costs £50 for a first appointment and £48 for a follow-up. The clinic is fully wheelchair accessible, on the ground floor with an accessible toilet, and there are three parking spaces directly outside, including a disabled bay. Amy is registered with the General Osteopathic Council.
