About
Cannock Osteopaths is a practice on Ullswater Place in Cannock, run by principal osteopath Peter Noon. Peter graduated from the British School of Osteopathy in 1991 and has built up the practice in Cannock since 1992, giving him over 30 years of experience. Earlier in his career he worked for the NHS alongside physiotherapists in the outpatient department at Cannock Chase Hospital.
He works alongside Susan Malhi, who has been at Cannock Osteopaths since 2003, the year she graduated from the Surrey Institute of Osteopathic Medicine. Susan speaks Punjabi and Hindi fluently, which may help patients who would prefer to explain their problem in either language.
Frozen shoulder is a particular strength of the practice. Peter trained under Simeon Niel-Asher in the technique he developed for frozen shoulder, and is the practice’s frozen shoulder specialist. The practice is open about what to expect: pain should ease within around four sessions, while restoring full movement usually takes eight to twelve.
Cannock Osteopaths takes time over each patient, allowing an hour for a first appointment and half an hour for follow-ups. The osteopaths listen and assess your condition before any treatment starts, explain what they find, and say so if your symptoms are not suitable for osteopathy. Treatment uses gentle techniques to improve joint movement and ease muscle tightness, alongside structured exercise and rehabilitation programmes and advice on posture at work or in the car.
The practice treats patients aged 10 and over, however patients under 18 need to be accompanied by an adult. The problems it lists include back pain, sciatica, neck pain and headaches, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, hip and knee pain, arthritic pain, muscle spasm and sports injuries.
An initial consultation and treatment costs £65 and further sessions £50. Peter is a recognised provider for insurers including Aviva, AXA PPP, WPA and Cigna, and can usually invoice them directly; the practice does not treat Bupa policyholders.
Cannock Osteopaths is open until 7pm Monday to Thursday and on Saturday mornings. The practice has ground-floor treatment rooms and free parking. Both osteopaths are registered with the General Osteopathic Council.
