About
Backstop Osteopaths is based at County House on St Mary’s Street in central Worcester. Founded in 2013 by William Zylstra, the practice sees people seeking help with recent and persistent pain, including back and neck pain, headaches, joint pain, arthritic conditions and sports injuries. Its care extends beyond the spine to problems such as shoulder pain, knee stiffness and ankle soreness.
William has practised in Worcester since graduating from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010 with a master’s degree in Osteopathic Medicine. His additional training includes sports taping, and he has been a Worksafe-approved manual handling instructor since 2021.
Backstop Osteopaths offers structural, classical and cranial osteopathy and has experience treating patients from six weeks old through to older adults. The clinic places emphasis on explaining what may be contributing to symptoms, helping patients understand the reasons behind their care. Treatment can be accompanied by exercise and rehabilitation programmes, with postural and occupational advice where relevant. This may be useful for someone whose symptoms affect their working day or who wants practical guidance alongside hands-on treatment. The practice describes its aim as providing lasting relief from acute and chronic pain.
A free 15-minute enquiry consultation offers an opportunity to discuss whether the practice may be able to help before arranging a full appointment.
The clinic opens Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am to 6pm, with appointments outside these hours available on request, subject to availability. Parking is available nearby.
